A welcome party to kick off the wedding weekend! Get to know each other and have fun in true Asturias style.
We will be celebrating a ESPICHA! Allow us to introduce you to the concept :)
Cider is the ancestral drink par excellence in Asturias, and it is one of our signs of identity. A espicha, originally celebrated the aim of opening or “espichar” a barrel of cider.
A espicha is an act charged with symbolism; it is an ode to joy, to companionship, community celebration, gastronomy, and enjoying traditional music while sharing cider poured in the traditional way. To consume it properly, cider demands a ritual and Asturias is the only place in the world where cider is poured into the air. Why? It is not just for show, when cider falls from a considerable height and hits the glass’s rim, it breaks down into foam, assuring its adequate oxygenation.
We really wanted to induce you into the vibe of a espicha, because it represents Asturias and it represents us; friendship, sharing, family, celebration… that’s us, that’s you.

Our big day, a celebration of love.
Miriam and Frederico. If you are here, you know us very well. Two stubborn, bossy, demanding, caring hearts that love life, absolute carpe diem souls, every day could be the last one, let’s celebrate it!
Our passion? Hosting friends at home, constantly craving for a long sobremesa after a proper meal by Chef Cruz. Always ready for a champagne and jazz night or planning the next trip to that country you never heard about.
It took us 26 years and a desert to find each other but since we did, we always knew this day would come.
For the civil ceremony followed by reception we chose Palacio de la Riega, a stunning XIX century palace, overlooking the city of Gijón. Captivated by its majesty and for being home to our admired haute cuisine master, Nacho Manzano, two Michelin Stars chef who will be in charge of our fine dining experience.

Where to fly
You can fly either to Madrid or Barcelona. From these two airports there are 1h flights to Asturias. Alternatively, you can also drive from Madrid to Gijón (5 hours).
Where to Stay
Gijón it´s a small city, regardless where you stay you will always be 5-10 min away from both events venues. You can go for Airbnb or straight to booking.com

Where to go after the wedding
Northern Spain is the great unknown! Vast majority of tourism goes to the south, missing -in my opinion- the most fabulous mountains, beaches and gastronomy in the country -for instance, we have the region with the largest concentration of Michelin Star restaurants in the world-
The north of Spain is green and lush, brimming with history and culturally very different from the rest of the country, no flamenco, bullfighting or paella. Everything is just different. Different and amazing.
We encourage you all to plan a road trip and explore it after the wedding. Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, País Vasco... they all have so much to see, eat and drink ;)
